Experience

Helen South is a former writer for ThoughtCo writing about drawing and sketching for more than 12 years. Helen worked as a printmaking technician and as a tutor for printmaking and drawing. In 1993, she joined the Australia Department of Defense as a cartographic technician and illustrator. She learned desktop publishing in the busy graphics office. 

Helen designed and taught a community college course in drawing and has taught drawing and painting in the community as well. She wrote The Everything Drawing Book From Basic Shapes to People and Animals, Step-by-Step Instruction to Get You Started (Everything, 2004) and more than 160 articles for ThoughtCo.

Education

Helen South received a Bachelor Arts in Fine Art from La Trobe University in 1991. She also earned a graduate diploma in Psychology from Charles Sturt University.
