About the Subject
This is a portrait of an orphan in Uganda. I drew the picture for donation to some missionary friends in hopes to raise money for their needs. The child's eyes spoke volumes to me, so after I finished (or as finished as it is today) I wanted to take the little boy into my arms and hold him!
Advice
- This is my first portrait. The most challenging aspect of the picture for me was the position of his ear. He had his head cocked forward, so when looking at him level his ear was up to high on his head. I brought it down for the sake of the picture. I drew it 3 times before being satisfied with the position of it. I have not had any official training in art. I just started drawing about 5 years ago and do not have a lot of self confidence yet. Submitting this picture was the next big challenging part of the drawing!
