A different Still Life

Here's an interesting shot. I'm not sure that it completely works; I think a different fruit, maybe a pomegranate, might look better, but it is a kind of enigmatic picture, and a different viewpoint from the usual still life. You could try sketching from this photo but it would be more fun to set up your own version. Choose a plate with a manageable pattern, and an interesting fruit or other object, and put it down on the floor beside a kitchen chair, so that you can easily look from above. Maybe you can think of some other arrangements that might make a good 'bird's eye view' composition.
