Artist's Statement: I had never heard of the Papillon breed of dogs until I was asked to donate a portrait to a breeder's silent auction. As soon as I saw photos of the puppies I could not resist! I chose graphite for this portrait because I love the simplicity and timelessness of black and white portraits and it is my favorite medium to work with.
