Mili Agarwal drew this portrait of Indian actor Shahrukh Khan using 2b, 4b, 6b and charcoal pencils. Mili writs that Shahrukk Kahn has been in the film industry for years, and is still one of the hot favourites. Mili says "Until now he has done about 60 films - in that 20 are superhits.This picture was taken by my sister when she met him. I tried 2 capture its confidence...handsome look...and sincerity... "
It's interesting seeing the development of artists who contribute regularly. This drawing is much stronger than some of the earlier pieces Mili submitted - the use of softer pencils and charcoal is working well. I like the strong, confident values. Don't forget to pay attention to the mid-values too - some of the skintones I feel could be a little darker - though I suspect the scan has lost some detail from the original. The handling of the hair and eyebrows is excellent, and Mili has done a marvelous job of Shahrukh Khan's gorgeous eyes, with the highlights and shadows under the eyelashes really bringing them to life. Well done!
