'The Skull', charcoal study of a skull by Alberoni© Alberoni, licensed to About.com, Inc.
The artist says, "this drawing was chosen at a art class and displayed at Vincents Gallery for two weeks on a student show. I only attended this class at Los Angeles College, for two months."

It's an impressive study uses the rich black of charcoal to maximum effect, with the skull emerging from the background. Strong modeling and attention to detail result in a really strong work. Animal skulls are great subjects, as the natural forms are quite 'forgiving' to draw (most people won't know if you make a mistake) and the complex, hollow form offers the opportunity to explore depth and shadow.
