Draw a Rose - Learn How to Draw a Rose in Colored Pencil

The rose is starting to take shape. Now we need to build some darker tones. Because my selection of colors is limited, I need to layer dark pencils rather than just choosing a deep red. I thought about using some green, but I really want the shadows in the rose petals to be very dark, so I'm going to go with black. Looking at the reference photo, I can see dark veins in the petals, so I try to follow these in the drawing. Be very careful to reserve the lights at this stage.
