Impressed line give a crisp, defined edge for quite small-scale brick drawings, but use with care and test the technique first. Some shading can be done before impressing the line so that it isn't quite so stark and white. Use a strong, heavy paper and a thick embroidery needle or fine knitting needle, being careful that it presses, rather than scratches, into the paper. This is a just a quick example - you can add more interesting pencil work and also use impressed stipples to create texture.
