Sketchbook Paper - Colored Pencil Test

Generic sketch paper tested with colored pencil.

In this section of the review, I burnished areas of colored pencil, blending them towards the middle, and shading off lightly to one side. I tested several colors and attempted to erase and lift them with masking tape.

Generic sketch paper doesn't hold the harder colors well, looking very grainy, and the surface starts to degrade quickly when I attempt to burnish. Waxier pencils blend and layer quite well.

This sketch paper erased very poorly, especially in the more heavily layered areas. It did lift off reasonably well. The short, fragile fibers break easily and bits of fiber tear away, allowing the adhesive tape to remove quite a lot of color.

This paper would be suitable for casual colored pencil sketching, but I wouldn't recommend it for detailed work.
