Definition: Lamp black, or Pigment Black 6, is an inorganic synthetic pigment made from the soot of burning oils, including tar, naphthaline and other petrochemicals. It is oilier than other forms of carbon black. Lamp black is an exceptionally stable pigment. It generally has a warm tone when used full strength but tints have a blue undertone.
