Guide Comments: Angelique, you've got a good likeness of Colin Farrell as Alexander the Great in this sketch, and I especially like the intense eyes, with good highlights. Do keep in mind that line drawing and value drawing, using shading, are two different approaches. The heavy outlines, around the chin, ears, eyes and neck, tend to flatten the drawing - they 'jump out' at the viewer, stopping the three-dimensional effect of shading from working properly. Try to avoid outlining and focus on shading areas of tonal value correctly. Also, don't be afraid to use dark shades! Get a soft pencil and make those darks really dark. You've already started observing the values well, so you are halfway there. Good stuff!
