Now use the airbrush or similar transparent, grainy tool to create shadows. For simplicity a neutral gray will do the job for most areas, with a lighter, more transparent tone in the hair. Use a soft edge to create a graduated, effect, or a harder edge if you prefer a crisp look. Masks can be useful to avoid coloring 'outside the lines', or you can tidy them up with the eraser tool and by overpainting in the base color. Shade under sections of hair and under fabric folds, and note that end of the scarf has some subtle shading to create a more three-dimensional look.
