Definition: A colorless blender is a colored pencil containing wax and fillers but no pigment, used in blending overlaid colors without adding any further color. Colorless blenders allow the artist to create transparent, jewel-like effects when burnishing. A fine layer of colorless blender can be used to slightly fill the tooth of the paper, so that a finer layer of color may be applied, allowing a greater degree of control over light values.
Solvent pens and fluids are also used to blend colored pencil, though these liquid mediums create a different effect to the dry medium colorless blender pencil.
Also Known As: blender pencil
