| Angel Child © Theresa 2004 |
Medium: graphite pencil
| Guide Comment: Theresa didn't have much to say about her art, except that she liked the wolf drawing better. However, I think this angel drawing is lovely - it might not be technically correct in some ways, but the proprtions of the face are fairly accurate, with the large eyes giving it that childlike feel. Perhaps its emphasised by the scan quality, but the gray paper and sketchy linework has the feel of an etching or engraving.
If you wan to get a more realistic look, I'd suggest doing some figure-drawing practice (draw the figure first then draw the clothes over the top, to make sure you get the anatomy in the right place, and the clothes flow over the figure) and use bird wings as a reference for the wings drawing. Alternatively you might like to look at some historical depictions of angels that use a more decorative, abstracted design. |
