| Hand Study © Nethken 2004 |
Medium: Pencil
| Artist Statement: I've been drawing since a child - this was a study I did of my hand. I went through a phase of drawing my hand a lot, you can see more on my website. I find drawing the hand to be challenging, but also interesting. Please visit www.nethken.com.uk
Guide Comment: This simple, sketch captures this contorted pose effectively - the artist has a good understanding of the three-dimensional forms in space. Note how the less defined drawing of the fingertips helps them to recede from the picture plane, in contrast to the firmly modeled creases in the hand. |
