Artist Statement: Eric is my soulmate, i rescued him from the animal shelter 12 yrs ago..I enjoy drawing in pencil and have been making great progress..
Guide Comment: There's a lot of affection in this portrait - dogs make terrific subjects. I think you've done well, and the shading is very good, though it does look a bit flat. You might want to try using natural light, or a lamp on an angle, to give you stronger highlights and shadows to work with. This is especially important with a dark colored dog.
