| Artist's Statement: ' I've drawn several skectches even live portaits, etc. but this is one of my favourites. I love to draw the eyes of females coz they are very deep.' |
| Guide Comment:Devanand has done a lovely job of capturing Salma's dreamy eyes, observing the detail and subtle shading really well. ONe area that could be improved is the modeling of the face. The three-quarter view - especially when the head is tilted like this - is particularly difficult to draw. Celebrities are often photographed with high-key lighting that washes out the skintones, focussing on the features, which can make it doubly difficult to model the face. Even when using a photograph as a reference, use guidelines through the eyes, across the cheekbones and down the nose and mouth can help to ensure that the planes of the face are all correctly aligned.
