| Artist Statement: I'm only 16 and this is one of my first attempts at drawing portraits. Hope to improve next time.

| Guide Comment: This drawing of Orlando Bloom is excellent, especailly for a first attempt - I really like your use of contoured hatching and the hair is well drawn. I'd like to see some stronger darks, though I suspect you've lost a bit of detail in the photo, so perhaps the original drawing looks a little darker and crisper. You've observed the detail in the eyes well, though you might consider making the pupils a little larger, to give the face a warmer expression - don't feel you have to stick to what's in the photo. I'd also prefer to see the whole head drawn, not just the face - perhaps that's just my personal taste, but I feel drawing the whole head gives the person more substance. I quite like the informal 'unfinished' feel with the shirt sketched in, which you've handled well. Overall, a really nice drawing. I hope you'll share some more of your work with us!
