Art Gallery - Charoal Portrait
Portrait - Indiginous Woman from Guatamala © Alberoni 2004

Medium: Charcoal

Guide Comment: Another impressive charcoal drawing from Alberoni, this charcoal study demonstrates that the charcoal medium can be used for fine detail and subtle shading as well as the bold, expressive drawings we are familiar with. If you were looking for points of improvement, I'd suggest that perhaps some areas could be modeled a little more with subtle darks - there is a big jump from the solid black background to the light midtones of face and clothes - but that is a very minor point. This picture has a real warmth and charm about it.
