Guide Review - Colored Pencil Portraits - Ann Kullberg
'Colored Pencil Portraits - Step by Step' is an excellent book which I highly recommend for anybody who is serious about colored pencil portraiture. Ann Kullberg covers essential basics, such as her fantastic time-saving method of vertical-line shading (which allows you to build up a surface quickly, and gives an almost tapestry-like, even rhythm to the drawn surface), color selection and layering. Step-by-step demonstrations show you how to observe the essential highlights, build darks and create skin-tones. Large overviews are balanced with detailed close-ups explaining technique.
