As I get older, I'm increasingly interested in doing serious work. As you find that you have more time behind you than in front of you, you no longer wish to waste time with trivia, and spending time in the studio becomes more important. So recently I've been thinking about the artists that matter to me, considering what sets them apart, and what makes them great. I wondered if some of these ideas might be useful to you in your work, so here are a few notes about my favorite artist: Lessons from Anselm Kiefer.
