Drawing is a rewarding hobby in its own right, and can often come in handy for other hobbies too. It's obviously important for a painter, but you can use your new drafting skills to draw a model train track, woodworking plans or design some DIY Fashion!
So how do you get started? The important thing is to begin at the beginning. You don't pick up a knitting needle and go straight for a Fair Isle sweater. No, you start with a simple scarf. So let's do the same with drawing. Just dig out whatever pencils you can find in your stationery drawer, grab some office paper and begin with some simple drawing exercises.

I started my hobby searching with about.com and when I had enough information started in on my renewed hobby of drawing.
I am the type of person who likes to have solid print to refer back to while I am working. Running back and forth to the computer for reference was a bit of a task.
CreativeHobbyArts.com has taken all the research out of looking for books on the subject and I have purchased a few affordable books from them.
About.com is one of the greatest resources for anything and I always refer to them 1st when starting anything new. I continue my search by trying to find the printed books. Thanks about.com!
For me, drawing is more than a hobby, but one I am happy to help others with.
