Draw a Rose in Colored Pencil
Tuesday March 17, 2009
Learn how to draw a rose in colored pencil. This step by step tutorial shows you how to draw a beautiful, realistic rose, using layers of colored pencil to create rich color and texture. It's easier than you think, and you don't need a huge collection of pencils. I've used just a few pencils from a set of 24 Prismacolor pencils. Go to the Draw a Rose in Colored Pencil tutorial.

Hi Helen
Drawing a rose
For some reason I couldn’t see (1) the basic drawing and all other were very faint. Has anyone else had this problem?
Hi Lynne,
that’s odd – it looks fine on my Mac. I’ll check on the old computer to see if I can replicate your problem. The basic drawing was in red outline, and there’s a lot of red in the drawing, so I’m guessing there’s a problem with color settings somewhere.
Just as Lynne said, it did look very light indeed on my old laptop. I’m going to ask for some technical advice about it, and may need to republish some of the images.
I found that I could make the images more visible by adjusting the display on the laptop, but that made other images very hard to read. For some reason the color profile on my Mac is such that all images are displaying well.
I’m really glad you picked this up, Lynne – I’ll be doing more pencil and colored pencil work, and I’d hate for readers not to be able to see them properly!
