Popular TV shows like Law and Order, Numb3rs, CSI and 'Without a Trace' have renewed interest the creative aspects of fighting crime. Police forensic artists, or sketch artists, work with old-fashioned paper and pencil as well as state-of-the-art computer graphics. One of my new favorite shows is a series called “Bones” about a forensic anthropologist. One of the main characters is an artist who draws portraits of murder victims as they would have looked like when they were alive.

It’s really interesting, because they take the skull of a victim, add tissue markers, then draw what the face would have looked like. It’s a really interesting job that I imagine takes a lot of skill.

Great article, and thanks for pulling the information together. I’m really jealous of people in those jobs!
