Aerial Perspective

Monday July 28, 2008

Do you include landscape as part of your drawings? Whether you're interested in the landscape for its own sake, or including it in the background of a portrait or still life, aerial perspective is a useful technique for adding realism and depth to your compositions. Guest author Susan Tschantz has written this article on Aerial Perspective for Drawing/Sketching readers. I really like Susan's ideas about working from the horizon forward, so that you are establishing that sense of atmosphere right from the start of the piece. I've edited her words to suit our layout, so any errors are entirely mine!
