Remember that there are no strict rules. That old adage of 'a real artist doesn't use an eraser' is nonsense. That's like saying 'a real musician never plays a wrong note'. Or, 'a real baseball pro always hits home runs'. Erasers are really useful tools, for all kinds of effects, and if I make a mistake, I'm going to fix it! You may well find that you prefer to do things differently, or choose different pencils to those that I select. That's fine - it's important to find tools and techniques that fit your personal style.
