I've never really been able to revisit old New Years Resolutions, because I never wrote them down - I kept an art journal, but not a diary. But since I thought I might revisit the topic for New Year, I took a look at my old posts on the subject. Back in 05/06, I decided to do a sketch a day - which lasted about a week, I think. Telling everyone didn't help me go stick with it - it just made me feel guilty! Last year, I decided to give resolutions a miss but did hope to learn Photoshop. This hasn't eventuated, but I have been experimenting with a few different drawing programs. I'm finding it difficult to make a choice, but sooner or later I'm going to have to choose one and stick with it. Most graphics software suites have idiosyncracies that really need a bit of practice to get the hang of, so at the moment I'm pretty useless at all of them!
Hmmm. Given my recent history, I think I'd best not bother with the resolutions this year either. I'm already working on improving a few things - better work habits and a greener lifestyle - which I'm looking forward to seeing the benefits of in the coming year. (Sketches of organic homegrown vegetables, anyone?)

An art journal was something I wanted to try. Never got around to it but It is something I’m going to do in 2008 along with other drawing habbits.

Last year I made a resolution to draw everyday. I lasted until the middle of February and even then I didn’t draw everyday. I’m going to try again this year. I think it is worth the effort.
i think a drawing a day for a week is quite challenging enough; planning for a whole year is really too much.
