An Easy Christmas Tree Step by Step

Monday December 17, 2007
For those who think they are a bit artistically challenged, here's an easy Christmas tree step by step. Great for kids too. Don't try to be a perfectionist with it, but use a good dark felt tip for a solid line, draw each line only once (don't try to correct) for a fresh and funky cartoon look.

You can copy these free Christmas Clipart Drawings to create your own Christmas card - practice on scrap paper first. If you still aren't happy with the results, use a window or a blank computer screen as a lightbox, and trace the picture - just don't use a very heavy watercolor paper, which tends to be too opaque for tracing.

I always thought that our jolly red Santa had been around 'forever', until I learned that artist Thomas Nast created what has become our traditional view of Santa Claus in his Harper's Weekly illustrations, inspired by German traditions of Saint Nicholas and woodland elves. You might prefer a more contemporary Christmas - perhaps Bridget Wilde's Manga Nutcracker Christmas Card, complete with color guide and instructions, on the Letraset site.

I printed out tree, enlarged pattern, and cut it out in colored, silver speckled construction. Then used double adhesive tape to put it together, 3-D fashion - So neat looking! Thanks!!

That sounds terrific, Jennifer!

I wonder if I should do higher-resolution images for printing.
