Drawing Hands

Saturday May 12, 2007
There comes a time when you have to stop hiding your model's hands behind their back or head, or drawing a cropped view so you can leave them out. The hands are an important part of the figure, and you need to get them right.
Plenty of practice is important, and unless you've been unfortunate enough to lose a limb, you should have a perfectly good model on your non-master hand. Try using a mirror to get a little bit of distance and a different viewpoint. You can also ask friends to model their hands for you - easy to do over a cup of coffee or while watching television.
