Site of the Week: Rohdesign Weblog
I bumbled across Mike Rohde's website, as you do, googling... somethingorother.... and what a worthwhile bumble it was. Mike Rohde is a designer who writes on various elements of design and technology, among other things.Mike is an afficionado of the Moleskine sketchbook (what is it about these things?.. I think I'll have to get one to find out what all the fuss is about ...) and mac user who often shares his way of working and favorite products in sketches like the one at left. I figure a designer must know something about being creating and productive so I hope I can pick up some tips.
He's got some really interesting ideas on organizing, sketching, the creative process... good stuff. Go visit.

Helen, thanks for the mention! I’m very honored.
As for Moleskines — they are just very well made blank/ruled/gridded notebooks that work great for note capture and sketches.
I think the only way to find out about them is to pick one up and try it out — I’d reccomend the sketchbook for sketching as it has thick paper that can handle drawing and inking.
Hi Mike! Thanks for visiting.
I think I might have to try out the little gridded ones – I used to have a gridded notebook in the Army and they are great for doodling on. Maybe they remind me of doodling in my Maths exercise books.
You do have some great ideas on your site. I’m still learning to get the best out of my Mac, so some of your tips and links have been handy. I’m trying to streamline the way I work so that I can accomplish more – I think we tend to buy into the myth of the disorganized artist, and it is ultimately doing us a disservice. I notice illustrators and designers, with the pressure of deadlines, often seem to combine remarkable creativity with being organized!
