Drawings from a Mexican
Dave mentions looking for 'a point of interest', whether drawing a model or someone in the street. A related idea is also expressed in a more recent post on angles - not always looking for the front-on, portrait view, but finding something of interest from other angles too. Often, the odd angle - the over-the-shoulder look, the figure walking away, someone absorbed in an activity - can be far more interesting than a conventional full-face portrait. I think its that sense of watching something happening, catching part of a story, which triggers the imagination.

Hi Alesha, check out the ‘Start Learning to Draw’ link at the top of the left column. You need to DO the exercises, workng through each one. Be sure to click through to the second page…
To draw -beautifully- can take a while, as you have to train your hand and eye – don’t be discouraged, keep practicing. 15 is very young, even though you might not think so!
