SketchUp - Three Dimensional Drawing
Sunday April 30, 2006
Here's a free three-dimensional drawing program. No kidding. Unlike most 3D drawing programs, SketchUp is drawing-based, and apparently easy to learn. And you can download it for free. from Google. I'm gobsmacked. Thanks to Anthony Zierhut for blogging this, or I'd never have found out about it. One of the great things about RSS feeds from your favorite bloggers - you find out good stuff like this, as opposed to the mechanical news alert which sends you information about 'prize drawings' (for raffles!) and 'contemporary artists' (singer/songwriters!)

Sounds good. I will have to try it.
Now I just need them to do a version for Mac. Apparently it’s on the way – I guess I could try it on my old computer in the meantime. (Though its kind of steam-powered…!)
Sketchup is like the saxophone,
easy to play but a lot of work
to play well.
But you can get good results
with a little practice.
The free version is missing
some features if you work with
other programs like cad.
The roving training sessions are
good but expensive.
