The Leipzig Academy
I've only seen reproductions of the works, and they seem to be a mixed bag - some realist (though the mainstream media seem to focus on the 'representational' works), some harking back to various Modern movements, and most with the uneasy edge that is de rigeur for contemporary art. But at least, some of them can actually paint. But the hype reminds me of the fuss about David Hockney 'discovering painting'. Hey, we knew where it was all along, if he'd asked....
If you're quick, you can catch Leipzig Academy works at the exhibition 'Life After Death' at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, which ends on April 2.
