Drawing with Colored Pencil

Tuesday October 4, 2005
Well I finally finished that painting! Hooray! I think I'm really a bit fed up with watercolor at the moment. Its time for a change. I think the next major piece I do will be in colored pencil. Its just so versatile. I might even use it in combination with watercolor - I've got a lovely set of Faber-castell Watercolor Pencils that are my favorite.
If you're just starting out with colored pencil, you might like to check out some Colored Pencil Books. Its a great way to really get into the individual approach of each teacher. I've got a few lessons that cover the basics and some handy colored pencil tips. If you'd like to tackle something a bit more challenging, try drawing shiny metal in colored pencil, or perhaps a rose drawing ...or even dragon's eyes. You can do anything!
Whether you're a beginner, or already a 'dab hand' as my mom would say, at colored pencil, you'll enjoy this interview with colored pencil legend Bet Borgeson.
