The Drawings of Francois Boucher at the Frick Collection
Sunday October 12, 2003
The three hundredth anniversary of the birth of François Boucher (1703-1770), is being celebrated with a major exhibition drawings on loan from international collections, at Frick Collection in New York. Around "seventy-five sheets of the highest quality" are on show.
The curators regard the show as representative of the artist's superb draughtsmanship, with whose "wide variety of subject matter is revealed by a selection that includes depictions of pastoral scenes and landscapes, various conceptions of mythology, religious narratives, historical events, representations of literature and allegory, and contemporary scenes." Please note that Children under ten are not admitted to the Collection, and those under sixteen must be accompanied by an adult. Further information on the exhibition including opening hours and travel routes are available from the gallery website.
